This is a very large single piece of solid oak, working out to be the full width of an oak tree. These carefully selected pieces are chosen not just for their size but because of their natural beauty. Each oak board is then carved and shaped into these stunning oak headstones.
All of our engraved wooden grave markers are made to order right here in our Surrey Hills workshop with considerable care and attention to detail. Our eco friendly engraved solid oak grave markers are 50cm wide and cut from a single solid piece of English oak and a massive 7.5cm thick. The same timber used to make our Saturday Kitchen style Live edge chopping boards, if you have seen these you will get a sense of how mighty they are when it comes to their size. Personalisation:
Our beautiful wooden grave markers come with personalised engraving of your choice up to 100 charecters included, however, if this is not enough, you have the option to make this up to 200 characters if more inscription is needed. You have complete control on how you want the layout to be and we can provide a preview once you have placed your order for you to approve before we begin carving. Carved Motifs:
Here at our Surrey Hills workshop we have over 3000 carvings on file, so when it comes to a carved motif to go alongside your engraved lettering on your memorial plaque, we pretty much have everything you could think of. If not we have bespoke service to create and design a carving of your choice. We can even copy designs, digital artworks and logos. All our memorial plaques come with 1 carved motif included. Please note – this does not include artwork to copy.
Finish:
As with everything we do here at Make Me Something Special, we have spent the time researching and sourcing the perfect materials available. Each oak memorial plaque is handmade from one piece of Air Dried Superior Grade English Oak. This Timber is perfectly seasoned and adjusted for outdoor conditions. You can choose to leave your plaque untreated, finished in Superior Danish Oil or our low maintenance Diamond Coating finish. If you choose untreated your product will weather to a pale silver more quickly. Danish Oil will not only treat the timber but also bring out the timbers natural colour. This has a UV filter to protect the timber but it does require regular upkeep. 2 – 4 times a year to keep it looking its best. Diamond Coating is more glossy but a lot more harder wearing and only requires a top up once a year, however this depend on the weather and where the product is placed. When it comes to ordering your engraved wooden burial marker it is always a good idea to check with the burial site first. In our experience most of the sites we supply have strict guidelines when it comes to plaque sizes. If you require a bespoke size plaque, this is not a problem for us to make for you.
